About

I am Andrew Leland. I’m writing a book about blindness (mine, yours) for Penguin Press. I have an email newsletter that I have never used to send anyone an email, ever; you can subscribe and fail to receive any emails from me by going here.

I host and produce the Organist, an arts-and-culture podcast. I’m legally blind but I can still see you if you’re standing in the right place. I’ve been an editor of the Believer since 2003 and I’ve edited books for McSweeney’s, Vintage, Chronicle and elsewhere. My writing has appeared in the New York Review Daily, McSweeney’s Quarterly, the San Francisco Chronicle, BOMB magazine, the catalog for the 2014 Whitney Biennial and elsewhere. I produced an episode of 99 Percent Invisible once. I’ve taught writing, radio, and “digital storytelling” (?) at Smith College, UMass-Amherst, the University of Missouri, and elsewhere.

I hate LinkedIn so Max made me this website.
